Black Stars fall short as Pharaohs make it three in a row

Egypt claimed a record third successive Africa Cup of Nations title, and seventh overall, after a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Black Stars of Ghana on Sunday. The holders were outplayed for much of the game, but one flash of brilliance in the game’s dying minutes proved enough to dash Ghana’s hopes. While the Pharaohs’ fans can forget – at least for a while – their team’s failure to make the World Cup, Ghanaians may find comfort in the knowledge that their young players have what it takes to make an impact in South Africa this summer.
